The single biggest concern we hear from first-time buyers is not price — it is paperwork. This guide answers every question we are commonly asked.
The Core Documents
Every international vehicle export from Dubai involves a standard set of documents. Car Ex Group handles all of these on your behalf:
- Export Certificate — proof the vehicle is legally cleared for export from UAE
- Commercial Invoice — the formal record of the transaction, including vehicle description, value and buyer details
- Certificate of Origin — issued by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, confirms where the vehicle was exported from
- Bill of Lading (B/L) — your legal claim to the cargo while it is at sea
- Packing List — a detailed inventory of what is being shipped
- Insurance Certificate — marine cargo insurance for the voyage
Destination-Specific Requirements
Different countries require additional documents. West African markets often require a pre-shipment inspection certificate. Some countries have import age restrictions — typically no more than 5 or 8 years old. We advise you on exactly what is needed for your country before shipment is arranged.
Payment and Timing
Standard payment terms are 50% advance, with the balance before the vehicle is released for shipping. For large fleet orders, Letter of Credit arrangements are available. Once payment is confirmed, the vehicle is documented and booked onto the next available vessel. Shipping to East or West Africa from Jebel Ali typically takes 14–28 days.
What You Need to Provide
From the buyer's side, we need very little: a copy of your passport or company registration, the destination port and country, and your customs agent details at destination. We handle everything on the Dubai side.
